Mississippi State Fires Head Football Coach Zach Arnett

After Just One Season

Team Loses 51-10 to Texas AM, Proving to Be the Final Straw

Mississippi State has fired head football coach Zach Arnett after just one season following a disappointing 5-6 record. The team's 51-10 loss to Texas AM on Saturday proved to be the final straw for the Bulldogs.

Arnett took over the program in December 2022 after the tragic passing of Mike Leach from a heart attack. He had previously served as defensive coordinator at Mississippi State under Leach.

In his first year at the helm, Arnett led the Bulldogs to a 4-6 record in SEC play and a 5-6 record overall. The team struggled offensively, ranking near the bottom of the FBS in several statistical categories.

Mississippi State is expected to begin a search for a new head coach immediately.
